Community Partners

At TriCity Volleyball Club, we believe strong athletes are built by strong communities.

As a not-for-profit volleyball club serving Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and surrounding areas, TCVC is proud to work alongside experienced coaches, training partners, local facilities, and community-minded organizations who share our commitment to athlete development, opportunity, and long-term growth.

Our community partnerships help us create more access, more training options, and more meaningful volleyball experiences for athletes at every stage of the game.

Built Through Collaboration

Volleyball development does not happen in one gym, through one coach, or during one season alone.

It takes committed people, quality spaces, trusted mentors, and a shared belief that athletes deserve positive, competitive, and development-focused environments.

TCVC is grateful to collaborate with coaches and partners who bring experience, leadership, and care to the volleyball community in Waterloo Region.

Affiliated Training Opportunities

TCVC recognizes that athletes develop best when they have access to diverse learning, coaching, and competitive experiences.

That is why we continue to build relationships with trusted training providers and volleyball-focused programs that support athlete growth throughout the year.

These opportunities may include:

  • Indoor skill development

  • Positional training

  • Private and small-group lessons

  • Beach volleyball training

  • Strength and conditioning

  • Performance development

  • Open gyms and identification sessions

  • Camps, clinics, and seasonal programming

Our goal is not to limit athletes. Our goal is to support them.

We want athletes and families to have access to quality options that help them continue learning, competing, and developing in a positive environment.

Ontario Volleyball Lab

TCVC is proud to work alongside coaches connected with Ontario Volleyball Lab, a volleyball training program focused on helping athletes improve their technical skills, confidence, and overall understanding of the game.

Through indoor and beach training opportunities, Ontario Volleyball Lab has helped support athlete development across Waterloo Region and beyond. Their work provides athletes with access to quality coaching, additional training opportunities, and development-focused environments that support the growth of volleyball in our community.

Our athletes benefit from the guidance of experienced coaches with backgrounds across OVA, U SPORTS, NCAA, beach volleyball, strength and conditioning, and athlete development. TCVC is proud to be supported by coaches who bring more than technical knowledge to the gym. They bring energy, mentorship, accountability, and a genuine commitment to helping young athletes grow.

This coaching network includes:

  • Shane Whalen
    TCVC Technical Director
2025 OVA Development Coach of the Year, with extensive experience coaching indoor and beach athletes from youth development through high-performance competition.

  • Sean Manzi
    Technical Director, TCVC Boys Program
A highly experienced coach with more than two decades in the sport, including NCAA Division I, U SPORTS, and athlete development pathways beyond Canada.

  • Shayla Whalen
    Performance and Development Coach
Focused on athlete movement, mindset, injury prevention, confidence, and supporting younger and developing athletes as they build strong foundations.

While TCVC and Ontario Volleyball Lab operate as separate organizations, we share a commitment to quality coaching, athlete-centred development, and creating more volleyball opportunities for local athletes.

Why Community Partners Matter

TriCity Volleyball Club was created in response to a real need in the Waterloo Region volleyball community.

  • Families asked for more access.
  • Athletes asked for more development.
  • Coaches asked for more opportunity to build something meaningful.

Our community partners help us answer that call.

Together, we are working to build a volleyball environment that is competitive, accessible, inclusive, and focused on long-term athlete success.

Waterloo Region Facility Partners

Access to quality gym and training space is one of the biggest needs in youth sport, and TCVC is incredibly grateful for the schools, facilities, and community spaces that help make our programming possible.

Every available court, gym, and training space creates more opportunities for athletes to get touches, build confidence, compete, connect, and grow close to home.

Our programming has been supported through facilities across Waterloo Region, including spaces in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and surrounding communities. These partnerships matter because they help us provide more consistent, accessible, and development-focused volleyball opportunities for local athletes.

Peak Fitness

TCVC is proud to recognize Peak Fitness in St. Agatha as an important community partner in helping support beach volleyball development.

A special thank you to Jason and his sons for providing such an amazing place for athletes to train, compete, and enjoy the beach game throughout the season. Their sand courts, support, and commitment to the local sports community have helped create a positive and welcoming environment for athletes of all levels.

Having access to quality beach courts close to home allows athletes to continue developing their movement, ball control, communication, confidence, and love for the game all summer long.

Impact Fitness Centre

TCVC is also grateful to Impact Training Centre for providing a space unlike any other in the region. The double courts, proximity and community; an ideal home for athletes to train, develop, and stay connected to the game.

Sports and wellness facilities, such as Impact Training Centre, play an important role in supporting youth sports. Their willingness to open their doors and work with developing court athletes helps strengthen the volleyball community across Waterloo Region.

Why Facilities Matter

Strong programming depends on strong partnerships.

Without supportive facility partners, athletes simply do not have the same access to quality training environments. TCVC is thankful for the people and places that continue to support our athletes, our coaches, and our growing volleyball community.

Together, these partnerships help create more opportunities for athletes to train, compete, and belong.
